Mary Prankster Fawns And Flirts Through Wonderland

That Mary sure is a saucy rock star. And it's fun having her as a blonde. Mary and the Boys entertained us better that the mad hatter's tea party - with special guests to kick off the evening at Fletcher's in Baltimore.
Emily, Russ, Austin and I arrived just in time to hear the second half of Val Yumm's set. Mary's been promoting Val like crazy on the Web and I can see why - not only does Val have the cutest teeth in the industry, but she plays a fiendish guitar. Ghoulishly good. I haven't seen a chick hit barre chords that well since I lived in New Orleans.
The Martini Brothers (aka, Silver Elvises on Guitar) were also a lot of fun. And I wasn't the only Devil girl in the house to think so, either...

After what seemed like an hour of waiting, the boys hit the stage - Phil in his bunny suit, Jon in cat ears and a tee and Dave in the Mad Hatter suit - the beginnings of Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit" coaxed Mary (Alice) to the stage, wearing a blue and white smock dress... singing "feed your head."

Then, after a haughty "Eat Me!" MP roared into "Tits and Whisky," "Piss Off," "Student Loan," "Mata Hari" and "Sun." The band's filled out quite nicely as Dave - an obvious Van Halen devotee - has brought the guitar section a lot of depth with his complimentary leads and rhythms.

Mary did the husky version of "Roulette Girl," and the other hits off that album - "The World Is Full of Bastards," "Takes His Place" and "New Tricks." That night's "Tempest" reminded me of MP's cow punk roots - still entrenched despite the chaotic swarm of events this summer.

Linda was dressed as a cat. Carolina's boyfriend is okay. Megan let me in front of her and Tracy snagged me a setlist.

The new "Part Deux" song and "Irresponsible Woman" ended the night, for which "Breakfast" was the final encore.

Then I froze my ass off all the way to the car.
